LBD - “Little Black Dress”

Every woman could use at least one little black dress, but you can never have too many black dresses, or too many black shoes. Right? So let’s take a look at some options for updating your LBD choices!

How did we get the LBD?

  • Historians attribute the little black dress to Coco Chanel in 1926. The color she used, black, was against the norm of that time. Her design was classic and quietly elegant and has since become a mainstay in probably every woman’s wardrobe.
  • Make a dress that suits your personality and lifestyle.

Go Classic or Daring!
Use Vogue 1542 to make this elegant version with Black Wool Tricotine or Black Silk Charmeuse.

Or another option is Vogue 1514 in Black Rayon Jersey Knit

Daytime and Casual
Burda Style 01/2017 #116 with Black Stretch Wool Crepe (Sold Out) is sophisticated and professional for office/daytime.

Try the Black Stretch Pique for comfort and class with Vogue 9237 that can be dressed up for a lunch, dinner date or casual events.

LBDs for the Trendsetter
Step out of the box and pick a trendsetting silhouette to add in your wardrobe!

Use Vogue 1501 and make this with Black Denim Matte Jersey.

Trendy and fun!

Vogue 1545 works with beautiful stable knits like the Midnight Black Ponte Knit.

Time to have some fun sewing!
  • The little black dress is not just reserved for evening and after-five events.
  • Be sure to check out all the fun fabrics available at Sew Much Fabric and remember the “little black dress” does not always have to be basic!
