Spring Trend: In The Trenches

  • Let’s consider updating a classic by making a new Trench Coat.
  • Trench coats have been around since World War I, were designed by Burberry, and were given the name “trench” coats because soldiers literally wore them while fighting in the trenches in Europe.

Inspired Versions of the Trench Coat

Weekend Glam Trench
Using Vogue 9246, make this updated, chic, and versatile version of the trench coat using denim.  Make it in the traditional blue or try a bright color.  This will be a fabulous addition to your weekend glam wardrobe!
For the trendsetter, a metallic trench coat would look tres chic this spring.  Burda 02/2017 #103 is a great option for an inspired trench coat pattern.
The Printed Trench
For fun, use Burda Style 09/2010 #133 to sew up this short version. The Watercolor Floral Cotton Sateen or the bright Painterly Ikat Cotton Print  (Sold Out)will kick it up a notch and brighten your day!

The Contrasting Trench
Use Vogue 8884 to highlight the different elements of your trench coat by adding piping or a collar/lapel in a contrasting color or print.
