Tracing a BWOF Pattern

I thought I would share with you my method of tracing patterns from BWOF magazine.

I'm tracing skirt pattern #109.

In the directions a "road map" of where to find my pattern pieces is given.

Find the right pageand all of the blue pattern lines.

I highlighted the correct size.

Place your tissue paper first, tracing paper in the middle and the pattern on top.

Trace around the pattern using a tracing wheel and in just a few seconds you have your
pattern piece.
Now I'll add seam allowances and I'm ready to cut.
It's that easy!

Mary Jane and Friends Collaborate!

Vogue 7940
Fabric: 60"
100% Wool

Notions: thread, 9" invisible zipper, Whisper Weft interfacing, stay tape, button, rayon hem tape
Alterations: This is the journey Mary Jane took to get great fitting pants....
Mary Jane had already worked on the fit for the pattern. She sliced and spread the center front 3/4" and added at the waist side seam 3/4" tapering to 3/8" at the center front seam.
She also added to the back waist side seam 3/4" tapering to 3/8" at the center back. The fit is good
Mary Jane attended a Sandra Betzina seminar wearing her pants. She asked for Ms. Betzina's opinion on the fit. Ms. Betzina suggested on her next pair of pants Mary Jane should use size D for the front and size C for the back. With this new information added to her previous alterations the fit is better.

Next Mary Jane asked Cynthia to make the latest version of these pants. I noticed when we looked at the muslin that the legs were too tapered. Cynthia added to the hem 5/8" on the front side seam and inseam and 1 3/8" on the back side seam and inseam.
The fit is now what Mary Jane was striving for!
Conclusion: Sometimes it takes more than one try and help from others to achieve success with your project. Mary Jane now as a TNT (tried and true) pant pattern. You'll see this pattern again in a lovely dark olive wool.

97% Cotton 3% Lycra
Lilac/Coral/Fuchsia Floral
Was 13.00 Now 6.50

Lilac is a big trend for Spring 2008! Make a blouse or empire waist dress with this one!!

95% Cotton 5% Lycra
Coral and Khaki Tweed
Was 12.00 Now 6.00

Great for a causal jacket to wear with your khaki skirt/pants. Make a shirtwaist dress and accessorize it with a brown belt! Fabulous!!

96% Cotton 4% Lycra
Sherbert Floral Stretch Cotton
Was 12.00 Now 6.00

Sherbert colors of lemon, peach, raspberry and kiwi put you in the mood for spring.
The weight of this fabric is perfect for a jacket, pencil skirt or sheath dress.

50% Rayon 50% Polyester
Red floral georgette
Was 9.00 Now 4.50

This definitely covers the trend for sheer fabrics!
It's really not so much sheer as it is opaque. This would make a wonderful wrap blouse or A-line dress.
